Savannah man charged after 16-year-old wakes up to find stranger in bedroom

A Savannah man is facing charges of burglary, voyeurism, peeping tom, indecent exposure and more after a 16-year-old girl in Hilton Head Island woke to find a man inside her bedroom in the middle of the night.

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office arrested 35-year-old Kewyn Louis Williams Friday night in connection to an incident at a Hilton Head Island home.

According to authorities, deputies were called out to a home early Friday morning on Matthews Drive following a report of a burglary. A 16-year-old girl at the home said she woke to find a man inside her bedroom.

Shortly before 5 a.m. on January 5, 2023, deputies were called to a home on Mathews Drive on Hilton Head Island for a report of a burglary. Once on scene, deputies learned a 16-year-old female victim woke to find a man inside of her bedroom. They also learned when she got out of bed and confronted the man, he left the residence. He was not located at the scene when deputies arrived.

Surveillance video from the home showed the man was inside the home two different times that morning, around 2 a.m. and again around 4 a.m. The footage also appeared to show the suspect filming the teen before she was startled and woke up.

The suspect was identified and taken into custody Friday night.
