Body of missing boater located in the Savannah River

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The body of a missing boater was recovered in the Savannah River on Wednesday morning.

According to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources – Law Enforcement Division, game wardens recovered the body of 42-year-old Charles Bradford Keiffer, of Hardeeville, S.C. DNR reports that barge workers spotted the body and contacted officials.

Aboat capsized Saturday eveningnear the Colonial Oil Dock, located along the Savannah riverfront, west of the Talmadge Bridge in an industrial area. The boat struck an unmanned barge in the river and three people were ejected from the vessel.

Nearby crews rescued a woman and a child from the river, according to the U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit. Both were transported to the hospital.
