No hazards found after odor reportedly made employees ill on W. River St.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - UPDATE - Savannah Fire says it did not find any hazards at a restaurant on River Street Thursday night after four employees reported getting sick because of an odor.

Savannah Fire says people in a restaurant in the 400 block of West River Street had to shelter in place while they checked to see what was causing the smell.

Fire crews used special meters to monitor the air four times before they said it was safe.

No injuries were reported and firefighters say it is safe for the restaurant to re-open Friday morning.

The Savannah Fire Department is currently investigating an odor in the 400 block of W. River Street.

The department reports the odor made four employees ill. Emergency crews are parked along Plant Riverside.

Savannah Fire says they are currently testing the air.
