Body found in Woodhaven Drive area of Hilton Head identified as missing man

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (WTOC) - UPDATE: The body of a man found Monday off Woodhaven Drive on Hilton Head Island has been identified as missing person Rashad Delaney, according to the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office states that a landscaper found the body of an adult male in a wooded area off Woodhaven on Monday at 10 a.m. The deceased man’s identity and the cause/manner of his death were not immediately apparent, according to the sheriff’s office. A forensic autopsy was scheduled by the Beaufort County Coroner’s Office to be conducted at the Medical University of South Carolina to aid in determining the deceased man’s identity, as well as the cause/manner of his death.

According to the Coroner’s Office, forensic pathologists identified the deceased man as missing person 31-year-old Rashad Delaney, who was last seen at his family’s home in Burton. The Coroner’s Office advised that pathologists continue to investigate the cause/manner of Delaney’s death.

Delaney had been reported missing by family members on Jan. 26, 2021. According to his family, Delaney had not been seen or heard from in several days and they were concerned for his well-being.

The sheriff’s office says it continues to investigate the suspicious circumstances surrounding Delaney’s disappearance and his death.
