It's that time of year again, back to school! ✏️ As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, this school year is kicking off in a very non-traditional way and we've got the info you need to transition into the new year!
📚Savannah Chatham County School System:
🏫 Start Date: August 19th, 2020
- On July 16, 2020, the Board of Education approved modifications to the Academic Calendar for the 2020-21 School Year due to impacts created by the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic. The calendar modifications include a delay in the start of the school year to provide critical time for staff training and preparation for a return to teaching and learning, the implementation of new safety procedures, and preparation to ensure facilities are ready for social distancing protocols. The calendar modification has students begin instruction in a virtual learning format on August 19, 2020.
- As of right now, it is not known when school will continue in person.
- All open house meetings will be conducted virtually
SY 2020-21 Virtual Open House Schedule:
- Elementary Grades (K-5 Students): August 11, 2020 / 3:30pm-6:30pm
- Middle Grades (6-8 Students): August 12, 2020 / 3:30pm-6:30pm
- High School Grades (9-12 Students): August 13, 2020 / 3:30pm-6:30pm
- Pre-K Classes: August 11, 2020 / 3:30pm-6:30pm

📚Effingham County School System:
🏫 Start Date: August 5th, 2020
- As of July 2, 2020 students enrolled in the Effingham County School District will have two options for attending school for the 2020-2021 school year. Students may choose to take classes at home in a virtual environment while remaining enrolled in the Effingham County School District or they may choose to take classes in a face to face setting in the physical school building. This opportunity will only be provided for a limited period of time under the current COVID-19 conditions

📚Beaufort County Public School System:
🏫 Start Date: September 8th, 2020.
- The Beaufort County School District will temporarily adopt a full-virtual educational model to teach its 22,000 students when school reopens on Sept. 8, Superintendent Frank Rodriguez announced tonight at a Board of Education meeting.
- After school starts, the school district will continue to assess the situation, Superintendent Frank Rodriguez said. “Based on data and science, we will decide when to resume face-to-face instruction. Once again—and I can’t stress this enough—resuming face-to-face instruction is our goal.”

📚Liberty County Public School System:
🏫 Start Date: August 13th, 2020.
The Liberty County Board of Education approved a plan for students to start the 2020-2021 school year virtually.
- Liberty County School System is offering an online registration process for all new students PK-12. Until schools are able to reopen, this will be the only process available to register new students.
