2 arrested in connection to deadly Statesboro shooting

STATESBORO, Ga. (WTOC) - Statesboro Police have arrested two people in connection to a deadly shooting at the Stadium Walk apartments on Lanier Drive on Sunday.

The Statesboro Police Department says officers were dispatch to the apartment complex at about 1:47 a.m. for a male shot inside the complex. Officers located the victim and rendered aid until EMS arrived.

The victim, identified as 27-year-old Dexter Dunbar of Sylvania, was transported to East Georgia Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation led detectives to arrest 22-year-old Brendyn Carter, of Sylvania, and 20-year-old Thomas Cooper, of Sylvania. Police have charged the two adults with murder.

The shooting happened as a result of an argument that began at Cowboy’s Pub. Police say that neither the victim nor the men charged were students that lived in the area.
