Last night's continuation of 'The New Edition Story' on BET capped off the three part biopic that's got everyone talking! So far it's earned 9.5 stars on IMBD, and is much deserved.
The ❤ I have for #NewEdition has grown the last 3 days when I didn't think I could be any bigger a fan. THANK YOU!!! Seriously, thank you— Gabrielle Union (@itsgabrielleu) January 27, 2017
Every member of New Edition made it their prerogative to oversee the production of their story, making sure that every detail of every scene was played with the utmost accuracy. In order to do so, all three sets of actors portraying the group had to undergo a three week boot camp with original choreographer throughout their careers had to undergo an intense musical boot camp with the real New Edition and original choreographer Brook Payne.
Having the real deal added just that much more pressure on the cast to keep their performances up to par. Elijah Kelley who plays New Edition member Rickey Bell says, “Every person in the group would be standing behind us as we did the choreography... There’s no worse feeling than being half their age and they do the routine five times right and aren’t winded.” Woody McClain who stars as Bobby Brown in the film added “I felt like I was in military boot camp. I was thinking I was killing it, and Brooke would stop the music and be like, ‘Nope.’”
The 3 part career biopic of Ralph Tresvant, Michael Bivins, Ronnie DeVoe, Ricky Bell and Bobby Brown has attracted over 4.4 million viewers. New Edition's musical career has surely withstood the test of time, and has been full of highs and lows. Being able to see what went on behind closed doors has brought fans from all over the world even closer together. You can always appreciate music more when you know that there's a story behind it, and with such a spectacular story we can expect for our request lines to be full of all of your favorite New Edition songs for days to come.
