TeeRoy's 2 Cents:

  • We'll probably never know what incident or event took place where Beyoncé didn't feel welcome.
  • Maren Morris commented, "Drag them, Queen."
  • Would you like it if radio was more free form, meaning there were no specific genres for each station?

It's hard to imagine that a global superstar like Beyoncé would not be welcome anywhere, but it was a lack of hospitality that motivated her to record her forthcoming album, Cowboy Carter.

In a post on Instagram, she expresses her gratitude to those who have supported the tracks "Texas Hold 'Em" and "16 Carriages." She goes on to explain that the project was born out of an experience five years ago where she didn't feel welcomed and that forced her to take a deep dive into the history of country music.

Beyoncé also writes, "My hope is that years from now, the mention of an artist’s race, as it relates to releasing genres of music, will be irrelevant."

It's important to note that Beyoncé makes clear that this is not a country album, but is a Beyoncé album. Cowboy Carter is set to drop on March 29th.
