- Biden's right. We've come too far to lower our guard now.
- Be patient. We're making progress.
- It might be OK if we do it gradually, and monitor what's happening, but it doesn't seem wise to open everything at once.
President Biden pushed back Wednesday at Texas Governor Greg Abbott and others who have dropped COVID-19 restrictions, calling the move "Neanderthal thinking" and adding that it was a "big mistake" for people not to wear masks.
Though the country is making progress with the vaccination campaign, Biden has called on Americans to continue to be vigilant in the battle against COVID-19 and continue to follow the guidance from public health officials and doctors.
Biden told reporters at the White House, "The last thing we need is Neanderthal thinking that in the meantime, everything’s fine, take off your mask and forget it. It’s critical, critical, critical, critical that they follow the science. Wash your hands, hot water. Do it frequently, wear a mask and stay socially distanced. And I know you all know that. I wish the heck some of our elected officials knew it." (The New York Times)
