A company in Massachusetts is developing a new supersonic jet that will travel at a speed of Mach 1.6 -- which is over 1,200 miles per hour -- and can fly from London to New York in a few hours.
S-512 Supersonic Jet from Spike Aerospace will also have low sonic boom levels and be quiet enough in the cabin for passengers to enjoy conversations -- and not have to worry about noise-cancelling headphones.
While this thing won’t be ready for commercial flights until 2028, the company is already working on technology that could get the speed up to Mach 3.2. (The Daily Telegraph)
