SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Savannah Police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead Sunday night.

It all happened at the Gateway Apartments just off of I-95 and 204.

Savannah Police say that they got a call around 10:30 p.m. Sunday night about a disorderly person and when they showed up, they found 40-year-old Marvin Swan with gunshot wounds.

He did end up dying of those injuries and the incident is now being investigated as a homicide.

WTOC spoke with a woman who says she was Swan’s longtime girlfriend.

She didn’t want to go on camera, but did say that she and Swan both live in the Gateway Apartments.

She was in bed when she heard what sounded like fireworks- but she said she had a bad feeling and started calling Swan.

She says eventually someone - who was just a bystander- picked up his phone and told Swan’s girlfriend where he was.

Swan’s girlfriend says that she went outside and that Swan was on the ground outside the leasing office- and that he had been shot three or four times.

((SHEA))Swan’s girlfriend told me that she has no idea who would want to hurt him.. but that now, she feels unsafe, and of course, devastated.

She says she dated Swan for more than a decade and is in shock over his death.

Again, SPD is investigating this as a homicide.
