PORT WENTWORTH, Ga. (WTOC) - An item on Tuesday night’s Port Wentworth city council meeting agenda is raising questions about the future of the city.
In the agenda for Tuesday night, an item reads “Resolution Opposing Dissolution of City.” The interim city manager confirmed to WTOC that some council members are trying to make an official record at Tuesday’s meeting that they do not want the city to dissolve.
According to the interim city manager, the Port Wentworth mayor has been talking to state legislators about possibly introducing a bill that would effectively dissolve the city and make it part of unincorporated Chatham County.
