50 Cent Reacts To Demotion Of NYPD Officer Who Told Cops To Shoot Him

50 Cent is celebrating what is being called a demotion of an NYPD commanding officer.

On Wednesday (March 4), the business mogul took to Instagram to share his reaction to the news that Deputy Inspector Emanuel Gonzalez, who previously told officers to shoot 50 Cent "on sight" last year, had been transferred to the NYPD's Auxiliary Police Section last week.

"👀Remember this guy Commanding officer Gonzalez from the 72 percinct ,😆," 50 captioned a screenshot of New York Post's reporting of the news. "They bust his a** down to auxiliary no more Strap just a 🔦flash light and badge.LOL 🤣😂😆HaHahahahahah."

“That’s punishment,” a source told the NY Post of the previous Brooklyn precinct commanding officer's move to the auxiliary program, which consists of volunteer officers who “observe and report conditions requiring the services of the regular police,” according to the NYPD’s website.

While a source said the officer's transfer is considered to be a demotion, an NYPD spokesman said the transfer had nothing to do with the threats against the rapper, the NY Post reports. “It is inaccurate to say the inspector was transferred as a result of any issues stemming from the 50 Cent allegations,” a police spokesman said.

As for Gonzalez's threat against 50, he allegedly told officers during roll call on June 7, 2019, that if they see the rapper they should “shoot him on sight,” police sources said at the time. Following the report, the police department said the situation was "under internal review," while 50 said he was "consulting with my legal counsel regarding [his] options."

According to the New York Post, Gonzalez supposedly issued the threat against 50 after he was accused of "unfairly target[ing]" hip-hop club Love & Lust, to which 50 replied to in a since-deleted Instagram post that featured his "get the strap" catchphrase.

The outlet also reported that the chairman of the National Latino Officers Association, Anthony Miranda, said Gonzalez's new post is actually a promotion that “seems to be a very positive thing.”

“The fact of the matter is being the commanding officer of the auxiliary division is an identified promotional command, where the last leadership was a full inspector. It’s also overseeing the largest voluntary part of the New York City police department,” he explained. Adding, he believes the reports connecting Gonzalez's move to his previous comments about 50 is a "hack attack" in an effort to "malign [Gonzalez’s] character."

"A disciplinary transfer would not have resulted in the commanding officer’s position, and would not have put him in a place for a promotion because that’s a promotional command,” Miranda said.
