SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Outdoor recreational facilities in Savannah that have been closed due to the COVID pandemic will reopen on Thursday, April 1.
The facilities reopening include playgrounds, baseball fields and basketball courts.
City pools, sports leagues and sports tournaments are not included as a part of this reopening, according to the City of Savannah.
“Events up to 50 people will be permitted on a case by case basis, starting on April 1st provided that specific criteria is met. Right now, we’re permitting events up to 25 people. So again, gradually, very gradually, very slowly, very methodically moving toward what our new normal will be,” said Savannah Mayor Van Johnson.
Information is expected to be released later regarding leagues and tournaments.
On a statewide level, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp is also expected to roll-back coronavirus restrictions this week.
