GEORGIA (WTOC) - Several county school districts have canceled classes due to road conditions after heavy amounts of rain.
- Appling County Schools will be closed on Thursday and Friday.
- Evans County Schools will be closed on Thursday. School leaders will make a final decision concerning Friday classes on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. Evans County Schools cited their decision to close as too many dirt roads in the area would be washed out, making it difficult and dangerous to travel to and from school.
- Jeff Davis County will be closed for students and staffThursday and Friday, March 5-6, due to road conditions throughout the county.
- Montgomery County Schools will be closed on Thursday. The superintendent stated that after discussion with the county EMA, too many roads have been impacted by the recent heavy rain.
- Tattnall County Schools will be closed onThursday and Fridayfor students and staff. The decision comes after discussion with the road department and EMA. Too many dirt roads in the area are affected by heavy rain, so the decision was made to cancel classes.
- Toombs County Schools will be closed on Thursday due to road conditions after recent heavy rain. However, Vidalia City Schools are OPEN, according to Superintendent Dr. Garrett Wilcox.
- Long County Schools will be closed on Thursday for all students and staff due to road conditions after recent heavy rains.
