Facebook and Twitter say the World Cup was the largest social media event ever.
Facebook says the month-long soccer tournament involved 350-million users around the world, producing three-billion posts, comments and likes. Yesterday's World Cup final was the most-discussed sporting event ever on Facebook with 88-million users contributing 280-million interactions. That's more than the Super Bowl. Twitter announced that more than 618-thousand tweets were sent each minute during the game, and that's a record as well. (Wall Street Journal)
