SOLANGE: Deletes Twitter

TeeRoy's 2 Cents:

  • Sometimes you need to tune out the negativity and hatred on your social media feed by just deleting the app.
  • Celebrities get all kinds of ugly comments from trolls, racists and haters with nothing nice to say and way too much time on their hands.
  • Logging off is a bad idea -- how will she keep in touch with fans?
  • Aziz Ansari recently spoke about deleting all Internet and social media from his phone and how it's changed his life for the better.

Solange is done with seeing a timeline filled with negativity. In the wake of the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, the “Cranes in the Sky” singer has deleted her Twitter account.

Solo’s final tweet addressed the arrest of college student Takiyah Thompson Tuesday in connection with the removal of a Confederate statue in Durham, North Carolina. She wrote, “Deleting my twitter soon, but before I dip when we gonna pull up? & what we got to do to get my new hero Takiyah Thompson free?"

Solange later expressed her frustration with the “deep dark rooted ugliness” present in the United States via her Instagram account, which is still active as of Wednesday.
