Lil Wayne is apologizing to the family of slain civil rights figure Emmett Till. The rapper came under fire earlier this year for comparing Till's beating death to rough sex in the rap song "Karate Chop" by Future.
A video posted on KarenCivil.com shows "Weezy" performing the controversial track at a recent concert in Nashville, Tennessee. However, instead of rapping the inflammatory verse, Lil Wayne says he apologizes "to the family of Emmett Till." While Wayne had previously issued a statement addressing the lyric, he never said the words "I apologize."
The firestorm of controversy surrounding the lyric caused Lil Wayne to lose a sponsorship deal with Mountain Dew.
